Issue #9 April 2008
Happy Birthday To Us!!

We are turning O-N-E on the 20th April and so are celebrating with a Yard Sale! Don't know what that is...well it's fun fun fun! The shop
will be transformed into a market delight! There will be bargains (items from $10 wowser), lollybags and fun times all round! We would
love to share our very first birthday with you so pop by and say Happy Birthday Lala Orange!!!
I'm Kornerd, HELP!

Sydney guy's label Kornerd has designed a moody galaxy inspired collection for Winter. Featuring long cardies, stormy planet tees and
graphic tees showing scary dogs. The label has shown at Australian Fashion Week to rave reviews and we are sure you boys will be
raving about these threads too!
Hunt 'em Down

The racks are chokkas with the new range from Perth label Miyoko which features metallic knits, printed jersey and hot pink skivvies!
Miyoko takes a dark twist this winter in the collection The Wild Hunt referencing north-eastern European and mid-western American
costume, designer Emily Wills has created a rustic collection reminiscent of backstage wardrobe trunks and gypsies. We are sure you'll
be able to hunt down a gem so pop in and nab yours!

Younger Brothers Are Cool

We are very excited that Another Boy has hit the shelves of Lala Orange because we think Material Boy's younger brother label is just as
HOT! The clever kids behind Another Boy have delivered a range featuring spider-cat jumpers, tie-dye tees and Boy George prints. Did
any lala shoppers see the Material Boy fashion talks at Fremantle Arts Centre? It was very interesting so come in and check it out as these
winners, they will not last long.

To Dye For

The latest trend to hit the catwalk, celebrities and hip young things round the world is tie-dye. Yes we know those who were older enough
to go through teen angst in the early 90's, listen to Nirvana when Kurt was alive or watch Reality Bites when Ethan was still hot, will
perhaps cringe with memories of DIY projects involving dyeing your Mum's old petticoats! But never fear this new trend has a more subtle
approach making it easy to wear and a new cool title Ombre (which is French for shading!) So what do you think? We know we have
embraced it with wide familiar loving arms!

Les Corbeaux

The latest offering from Perth based label Les Corbeaux will add a bit of sparkle fantastic to your dreary winters day.
The collection is based on the phenomenon of the "Northern Lights" and has a sprinkling of parrot, horse and sunset
motifs, with our favourite being the skivvy with the metallic necklace.

Zuttion Pollution

Our store has been newly littered with the range by Sydney label Zuttion and there are definitely some LUST-HAVES! Our favourite piece
is the Kitty-Cat Tee Dress-Meow!!! Other hot items to check out are the thorn printed hoodies for guys and girls, brightly coloured leggings
for the ladies and abstract-printed tees for guys. So hurry in before it's all cleaned up!

Ros' Outfit of The Month
To make that transition from Summer to Winter a little easier Ros suggests a long sleeved mini dress. It can be worn with or without tights
and dressed up or down as the occasion permits.

Recipe of The Month

This months delicious treat is paying homage to the Tie-Dye (or the fancy term we learned earlier Ombre) trend with
a tasty recipe for
Rainbow Marble Cake! (they kinda look the same yeahh?) Your Granny will be impressed for sure!
Rainbow Marble Cake
Cake
225g butter softened
225g caster sugar
225g self-raising flour
3 tbsp milk
Different food colourings for rainbows be creative yeah?
Icing
2 tablespoons butter
1 cup icing sugar
1 tablespoons milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
(optional: maybe adding a little fluoro green or pink food colouring will go down a treat?)
How to make it:
- Heat oven to 180C. Grease a cake tin and line the bottom with a circle of greaseproof paper.
Mix all ingredients together except for cocoa until smooth. - Divide the mixture between 4 bowls. Stir food-colouring into the mixture in each of the bowls. Layer the
different coloured mixtures into the pan. When all the mixture has been used up tap the bottom on your work
surface to ensure that there aren't any air bubbles. Take a skewer and swirl it around the mixture in the tin a
few times to create a marbled effect. - Bake the cake for 45-55 mins until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean. Turn out
onto a cooling rack and leave to cool. - For Icing cream butter and sugar well, add the all liquid until mixture is smooth (add in colour for funtimes!) and ice when cake is cool.
